Goal Setting and Power sentences is a powerful tool you can use both within your Martial Arts and every day life…

Goal Setting:

Goal Setting is making a plan over your main goal and part goals…….
This can be compared to the ranking system within Martial Arts, lets say your main goal is Instructor (Black Belt).
Then your part goals would be the Kyu (Color belts) degrees, then you have your plan with main goal and part goals…..
The part goals works as stepping stones towards your main goal…
Next step is to use is together with Power Sentences….

Power Sentences:

The way to use Power Sentences is you take your next goal or part goal, lets say that is Green belt that next step on the way to your main goal (Instructor = Black Belt).
You then make a Power Sentences like:

I am a great Green Belt….

Try to say this sentence 2-3 daily and remember to believe in it, the reason you are say you are a great green belt and not, i will be a great great green belt is that by saying it like you have not got the belt yet, you keep pushing the event out in the future….
You have to say this sentences like you believe in it and it already did happen, that way its much more easy to make your subcon. believe you really are a good green belt and help you start acting like one…..

Many beginners might get the impression that MA is not much related to many of the things you see in the movies and such at all like meditation, Ki/Chi energy and such…But the truth is that the mind plays a very big role in a MA with roots, here by i mean arts like Wing Chun, Bujinkan Ninjutsu, Eskrima etc. Where as many arts has been changed, now a days, to fit a sport setting more, these arts are often, not always, things like Karate, Taekwondo, Judo etc. and there are new MA sports to, commonly know as MMA….

The arts within the sports area do not focus much on the mental side at all, and if they do not in the same way as older arts often, thats my expirence from being within both sports (boxing, kickboxing etc.), selfdefance (Ju-Jutsu, Jiu-Jitsu etc.) and Martial Arts (Bujinkan, Arnis etc.)…

But lets talk about how the mind in some arts are used and in general how it can help you within your art, i have seen many mental things within martial arts and after i tried both courses within only the mental subject (non MA related) and some of the deeper MAs i would say that in the long run a good and deep MA (and instruktor) can give you the same or more as only visiting some mental courses….I have seen selfhypnosis, psykologi, healing, meditation of many kinds and so on within MA….I dont know if you know much about selfhypnosis? But it is a very strong tool, so lets talk about it today (the rest a other time), it is the teori that the human mind is made up of a subcon. and a con. The subcon. controls all our behavior on a level we dont think about like reflex, breathing and so on. The con. is what we focus on and by own free will do like moving a arm and picking up a glass etc….It is said the within the subcon. we have unlimited pontential, since we only normal use about 10% of our muscle mass and our brain, the rest is can in teori be reached by our subcon.
Thats where hypnosis and selfhypnosis comes in the picture its a way to reach your subcon. and program it……This means if you want to stop smoking, you use selfhypnosis to get into a trance and you tell your subcon. that you dont like smoking and the taste of smokes. The idea and what hopefully happens, if you did it right, is that the taste of your smoke next time you light one is very different and not nice, which leads to you stopping it within short time…

Now if we talk about something more MA related selfhypnosis can help you activate some of the things in the brain you dont use, more muscle stregth and help you perfect your movements within a techniqe, learn faster, hit harder, gain speed, take a punch….There are no real limits to the potential
. Later blogs i will focus more on how to use mental art (like selfhyp. and other), and also techniqes both with/without the mind part..
I hope you enjoyed this blog and that it got you thinking, and plz. come back again soon for more articles or if you have questions use my chat or make a comment on the blog….

Sincerly yours,

The Game Face is when you put on a face that does not tell your opponent about your real fellings, it also has a intimidating effect……

You can compare it to when the Samurai in the old days did put on their War Masks, they did that for many of the same reason as we are using the Game face.
Below is some of the reasons to use the Game face:

1. It hides if you are tried….
2. It has a intimidating effect on your opponent……
3. It hides if you feel pain…..
4. It hides if you are scared….

The Game Face works a lot like a Pokerface or if you imagine putting on a Japanese War Mask, where you train and work on hidding above things….
You can say its also a matter of showing your opponent a attitude that tells him that you are in control all the time both with the face and the body…..
You have to believe 110% in your self and your skills when you fight and show this….

The Ninja consider selfhypnosis as the key to understanding hypnosis (or mass-hypnosis), the reason for this is that methods used to affect the mind is the same but instead of you just using it on your self, you apply it on a other person in hypnosis…..
[/hidepost][hidepost=0]
Now to make a selfhypnosis session, you will need a place where you can lay down without anything distubing you, besides that you will also need a goal with the session like “you want to stop smoking”…….
The steps are as follows:

1. Lay down and relax…..
2. Focus on your right leg, take a deep breath and feel how the leg is relaxed, when you breathe out…..
3. Focus on your left leg, take a deep breath and feel how the leg is relaxed, when you breathe out…..
4. Focus on your right arm, take a deep breath and feel how the arm is relaxed, when you breathe out…..
5. Focus on your left arm, take a deep breath and feel how the arm is relaxed, when you breathe out…..
6. Focus on your chest, take a deep breath and feel how the chest is relaxed, when you breathe out…..
7. Focus on your bag, take a deep breath and feel how the bag is relaxed, when you breathe out…..
8. Focus on your head, take a deep breath and feel how the head is relaxed, when you breathe out…..
9. Take some deep breathe and feel how you become more and more relaxed each time you breathe out….
10. When you feel the trance is deep enough, make your statement (goal): “I wont smoke any more”
11. Then start to slowly be more and more aware of your surroundings (sounds and suchs)….
12. Once you become completly aware and feel its right, then open your eyes again……

Note: Selfhypnosis is also sometimes used as a form of selfhealing…..

Examples:

Aside from air, smoke, and the like, fū can in some ways be best represented by the human mind. As we grow physically, we learn and expand mentally as well, in terms of our knowledge, our experiences, and our personalities.

Located:

Wind is located at the middle of the chest.

Woid (Ku)

Represents:

those things beyond our everyday experience, particularly those things composed of pure energy.

Emotionally:

Can be associated power, creativity, spontaneity, and inventiveness.

The mind:

Our ability to think and to communicate, as well as our creativity.

In people:

Spirit, thought, and creative energy.

Finger:

The tumb

Located:

Void is located at the neck

Note:

Kū is of particular importance as the highest of the elements. In martial arts, particularly in fictional tales where the fighting discipline is blended with magic or the occult, one often invokes the power of the Void to connect to the quintessential creative energy of the world. A warrior properly attuned to the Void can sense his surrounding and act without thinking, and without using his physical senses.

Above elements can be used as a meditation system and a form of NLP system, you can use it in your every day life to spot who is in what element. This knowlegde can help you in a conversation if you see a person (or possible opponent) is in one element, you can “mirror” his element and then pull the conversation into a other element that you like better and that way control the conversation……
Some of the signs you can look after besides above (the elements), is if a person is mad, yells a lot and have a red face color. This means the blood is still mostly in his face and he is not that big a danger yet, but if the face turns white it means that his blood is running out to his fists and he is ready to strike (a danger)….
Please note: You can’t always go after the face color since there is cases where it can play a trick on you if the person is on drugs or suchs, always use you commen sense and awareness….

You can also meditate directly on a element just by using the “Mental picture” (and breathing) or you can combine it with the mudra’s (hand positions) for each element either to get the correct feeling during training or as a meditation, where you either sit or lay down….

The mudra for Earth is:

During training you could make the Earth mudra like this:

The mudra for Water is:

During training you could make the Water mudra like this:

The mudra for Fire is:

During training you could make the Fire mudra like this:

The mudra for Wind is:

During training you could make the Wind mudra like this:

The way you use the mudra’s in your training is by making the mudra (at your side or behind your bag), getting the felling in your mind of the element and use the breathing. That means if you are doing a “water” technique (defensive), then do the things above and try to keep the feeling of water when your opponent attacks you. This connects the feeling of water by connecting your fingers (the mudra) and after some training you will be able to recall that feeling just by putting the fingers together….

But in Ninjutsu (X-Kans), we do meditate directly on our 5 senses to become more aware…..
The way this is done is by:

Eyes: Start your day with a 10 min. meditation on everything you see, then afterwards be aware the rest of the day of all the things you see….

Ears: Start your day with a 10 min. meditation on everything you hear, then afterwards be aware the rest of the day of all the things you hear….

Nose: Start your day with a 10 min. meditation on everything you smell, then afterwards be aware the rest of the day of all the things you smell….

Taste: Start your day with a 10 min. meditation on everything you taste, then afterwards be aware the rest of the day of all the things you taste….

Earth: The founding level and energy, which makes Earth the first element.

Water: Can be found in lakes and oceans, Water also heats and can form clouds. Thats why its second.

Fire: The heat from the sun and number 3 element….

Wind: Moves under the influence of heat and can carry a lot, Wind is the 4 element…

Void: Without this element the other ones can not be, it stand for everything potientiale power with no start or end. This is the 5 and highest element….
[/hidepost][hidepost=0]
Earth Meditation:
When the Ninja was to emotional involved or need more stability, he would use Earth meditation…
Focus on your breathing, breathe slow in and push the stomach completly out (takes around 8 sec.)….
Dont hold you breath, but breathe out again also slow (takes 8 sec.), until you have pressed all air out of your lungs….
While you do this breathing imagine that you are a empty mountain cave and you feel the breathing in the inside of this cave…
You should feel the pressure of this breathing in your stomach area, it might help also to focus on a Earth symbol like you sitting on the top of a mountain….

Earth insight:
Meditate on the bodys weakness like illness, age, death, hunger and so on…..This will give you a better understand of the body and its limits…..

Earth peace of mind:
Meditate over how sometimes things like money, job, car, house and such….Some times becomes so important to some people that they loose them self…..

Water meditation:
When a Ninja feels he to stubborn and needs more adaptability, then he would meditate on Water…..
Focus on your breathing, take a deep breath pressing the stomach completly out, it should take around 8 sec. to breathe in…..
Then with your lungs and stomach filled with air, hold your breath for around 3 sec.
You should feel it press around stomach level…
Breathe out to relax the lungs and ribs, while you turn the presurre to the lower part of adomen. Tense the muscles in the lower part of adomen and breathe out fast with a quick push…..
Hold this position and your breathe for about 3 sec. Before you start to breathe in again….
You could imagine a symbol for Water like you floding around in a bathing ring in a beach near the coast line, where you see and feel the waves….

Water insight:
Meditate over the illusion that comes with feelings and try to think about how the feelings can play tricks on the mind….
Teaches you about the limited ways things can be explained in a logical manner….

Water peace of mind:
Meditate over compassion….
This will break down feeling like anger….

Fire meditation:
When a Ninja feels without energy, is unable to make a decision or feels others are manipulating him, then he would meditate on the fire element…..
Focus on your breathing, let your lung and rib muscles relax. Breathe fast in by pressing the stomach muscles out, it should be in one fast motion. You should feel a pressure behind Solar Plexus. Dont hold you breath, but breathe out by using the muscles around the rib area….
It can help to imagine a symbol of Fire like a fire place in a old blacksmith and you are blowing on the fire place making the flames higher and higher…..

Fire insight:
Meditate over the minds toughts, how old ideas that was ones true, become new ideas, stress and the mental process…
Teaches you about the mind….

Fire peace of mind:
Meditate over the effect and corse of ignorance….
To Teach the mind about Ignorance…..

Wind meditation:
When a Ninja feels emotional controled or lacking compassion, he would meditate on Wind….
Focus on your breath, relax your lung and rib muscles….
Take a deep breath by pressing the stomach out and filling your lungs…..Hold your breath for about 3 sec. while you feel the pressure in your chest…..

Breathe slowly out using your rib muscle and pressing up and inwards with the stomach muscle, this should take around 10 sec.
It helps using a symbol of wind like you standing between the trees in a big forrest, where the wind is blowing and you feel it…..

Wind insight:
Meditate over how little “You” are in the big picture, like the worlds historie, the universe and so on……
Consider what problems like personal issues, victories and such means compare to it all….

Wind peace of mind:
Meditate over the different cultures in the world and the many ways of doing things…..
Teaches you about the value of different oppions….

Void meditation:
Imagine that you are in the future looking back at you right now, work on being able to see your self from the eyes from the person you like to be in the future….
Use this as a part of you Goal Setting and Power Sentences…..

Void insight:
Meditate over the ability to look into the future….

Void peace of mind:
Meditate over the breathing as a way to expand the mind…..

KAMAE

Shizen no Kamae (Earth): Stand relaxed and safe, from here you can move in any direction….
Neutral attitude
(We start all our defences in this position, since its most likely to look like how you would stand on the Street).

Ichimonji no Kamae (Water): This is a way to lure the opponent a little to far out…..
Defensive attitude

Jumonji no Kamae (Fire): A way to press your opponent that forces him to react and so his true color….
Aggressive attitude
(We use the Villasin Style Combat Stance as our Fire stand).

Hira no Kamae (Wind): A attitude from which true Ukemi can be trained….
Reciving attitude

Hicho no Kamae (Earth and Wind): Flying from battle, the stability is larger then the opponent thinks. This position can also be used as a quick way to get balance to your mind. Because you cant stand on one leg, if your mind is out of balance (focus). (it can also be used as a block against low kicks).

Doko no Kamae (Water and Fire): A position that puts pressure on the opponent, because it shows aggressive attitude (Fire) by the fist, but is still defensive (Water) also, when you look at the stand…

Kosei no Kamae (Vind and Fire): Tricks the opponent to think you are open, when in fact its a set up…..

Remember the positions (Kamaes) would in real combat get smaller and they are like pictures of bodymovement during a fight not static and dead, but they should be used during sparring and with aliveness…..
The reason we start we training them large is its safe for the beginnig student, trains the muscles and the subcon./body to remember your movement correct…

We also try to hide the technique in Ninjutsu, so the opponent wont know what happen or even if you did know Martial Arts afterwards…..
Some of the best techniques are those the opponent, never see comming so always have a “secret weapon”…….
