Text from youtube:

This Animated Chart of the body’s weak points according to the Takagi Yoshin Ryu. Is meant as a reference material to those people who are Practicing Bujinkan Takagi Yoshin Ryu, But my also be of interest to others training Martial Arts who are in need of an “Accurate” Chart of points.

The “Kyusho” (weak and Lethal points) of the Martial Arts have to be understood because they differ from healing points (”Tsubo”) used in Acupuncture and Shiatsu. The learning and eventual mastering, Involves experience, both in using on others as well as having it used on oneself by others.

The effectiveness will undoubtedly differ from person to person, so be aware that there are some people who will feel absolutely no pain in some points and a lot in others, in which case the solution is taught only by word of mouth.

Further more Learning Kyusho points is more than a Matter of looking at a chart and knowing where the points are,

You have to be shown the application by some who have spent many years actually striking and pressing the points,
The Kyusho points must be strike in the right direction and with the right body weapon,

The next stage is to be able to hit the points while moving in combat this takes years of practise!

The stage after that is to be able to strike the points in combat in complete darkness then you Know that you can Always get them!

Overall I have been training in Kyusho for over 32 years and I am still learning about them!

Note although great care has been taken to give the correct names to the points the names of Kyusho points may differ according to peoples notes.

Note: Let me state here and now that these charts have nothing to do with “DimMak These charts show “Atemi” striking points that cause (Nerve) Pain, Muscle spasms and Bone breaks (in Some Cases) They are physiological! (Nerves, Muscles, Tendon insertion points and bones )
These Charts are just Where to Hit! that’s all.

For example: if you punch at me.. I Don’t block it, I counter by punching the “ulnae” nerve on the arm thus rendering it (the arm) numb….. IF I hit it right, It’s physiological!

We first train our technique in Empty Hand to make the technique it self perfect, once the student started to get a understanding of the techniques and how they work, then we test the techniques in sparring. We do allow stuff like “sucker punch” and “dirty tricks”, as long as the student dont damage each other, since we try make our style for defence on the street (even that many of the things we do can also be used in tournaments and students are welcome to do so)…..

The rules when we do sparring are:

Dont damage each other, train in a safe way.

Semi-Contact to the body and slaps with open hand to the face (not the face area like eyes, nose and mouth) is okay….

Dirty tricks is also allowed…..

Note: The slaps to the face are made like hook, backfists and uppercut just with open hand. Cross is allowed to but you just stop the strike both to avoid damage and to show/train control in your technique….

1. Sparring with the Eskrima Stick:

We do sparring in many different ways, below is a video with me and Grandmaster John Villasin training “the Play” a form of sparring from the Villasin Balintawak Style:

Many beginners might get the impression that MA is not much related to many of the things you see in the movies and such at all like meditation, Ki/Chi energy and such…But the truth is that the mind plays a very big role in a MA with roots, here by i mean arts like Wing Chun, Bujinkan Ninjutsu, Eskrima etc. Where as many arts has been changed, now a days, to fit a sport setting more, these arts are often, not always, things like Karate, Taekwondo, Judo etc. and there are new MA sports to, commonly know as MMA….

The arts within the sports area do not focus much on the mental side at all, and if they do not in the same way as older arts often, thats my expirence from being within both sports (boxing, kickboxing etc.), selfdefance (Ju-Jutsu, Jiu-Jitsu etc.) and Martial Arts (Bujinkan, Arnis etc.)…

But lets talk about how the mind in some arts are used and in general how it can help you within your art, i have seen many mental things within martial arts and after i tried both courses within only the mental subject (non MA related) and some of the deeper MAs i would say that in the long run a good and deep MA (and instruktor) can give you the same or more as only visiting some mental courses….I have seen selfhypnosis, psykologi, healing, meditation of many kinds and so on within MA….I dont know if you know much about selfhypnosis? But it is a very strong tool, so lets talk about it today (the rest a other time), it is the teori that the human mind is made up of a subcon. and a con. The subcon. controls all our behavior on a level we dont think about like reflex, breathing and so on. The con. is what we focus on and by own free will do like moving a arm and picking up a glass etc….It is said the within the subcon. we have unlimited pontential, since we only normal use about 10% of our muscle mass and our brain, the rest is can in teori be reached by our subcon.
Thats where hypnosis and selfhypnosis comes in the picture its a way to reach your subcon. and program it……This means if you want to stop smoking, you use selfhypnosis to get into a trance and you tell your subcon. that you dont like smoking and the taste of smokes. The idea and what hopefully happens, if you did it right, is that the taste of your smoke next time you light one is very different and not nice, which leads to you stopping it within short time…

Now if we talk about something more MA related selfhypnosis can help you activate some of the things in the brain you dont use, more muscle stregth and help you perfect your movements within a techniqe, learn faster, hit harder, gain speed, take a punch….There are no real limits to the potential
. Later blogs i will focus more on how to use mental art (like selfhyp. and other), and also techniqes both with/without the mind part..
I hope you enjoyed this blog and that it got you thinking, and plz. come back again soon for more articles or if you have questions use my chat or make a comment on the blog….

The Game Face is when you put on a face that does not tell your opponent about your real fellings, it also has a intimidating effect……

You can compare it to when the Samurai in the old days did put on their War Masks, they did that for many of the same reason as we are using the Game face.
Below is some of the reasons to use the Game face:

1. It hides if you are tried….
2. It has a intimidating effect on your opponent……
3. It hides if you feel pain…..
4. It hides if you are scared….

The Game Face works a lot like a Pokerface or if you imagine putting on a Japanese War Mask, where you train and work on hidding above things….
You can say its also a matter of showing your opponent a attitude that tells him that you are in control all the time both with the face and the body…..
You have to believe 110% in your self and your skills when you fight and show this….

1. Cupped Hand:

This strikes (fist) is made like if you are holding a cup in your hand, it protects the area around the little finger more then the more known Karate Chop.
There is a other benefit with this fist, its easy to go from a Boxing Fist and then open the hand into a cupped hand, when striking.

2. Elbow Strike:

This is a very powerful strike and close range, it helps if you can grab the opponents head and pull while you get your full body weight behind the strike.

3. Dragon Fist:

Using your middle finger to strike with, supported by the other fingers. The targets are mainly Kyusho points and weak spots on the body.

4. Extended knockles Fist:

This fist is used against targets like the throat or the ribs.

5. Fudoken:

This fist can be used against most targets, this is also good for defang the snake.

6. The Hook:

Usually aimed at the chin, but it can also be used for body shots, especially to the liver.

7. The Jab:

The Jab can be used as a defense, a set-up or you can even ad more power to it by stepping into it…..
The Jab is mostly used against the face, but can also be used against the body (but doing so increases risk for a counter).

8. The Cross:

The blow crosses over the leading arm, hence its name.
The cross can sometimes follow a jab, creating the classic one-two combo.

9. The Uppercut:

The Uppercut is a close range strike and the targets can be the opponents chin or solar plexus.

10. Bone Strike:

Using the bone in your wrist to strike the back of the opponents neck.

11. Tiger Claws:

This fist can be used against the eyes, but also to grab like in muscle destruction techniques.

12. Thumb strike:

Using the thumb, supported by the other fingers, to strike against Kyusho points on the body like the ribs.

13. Reverse Chop:

This strike can be used against places like side of the neck, back of the neck, the groin and such.

14. Palm Strike:

This is a very good and powerful strike, it seems less aggressive since your fists are open, but it still has a lot of power and you dont damage to knockles by using this strike on the street.

15. Striking with any part of your body:

Here you use parts of your body like the head, arm or shoulders to strike with. This way if you are not standing to make one of the other strikes, you will be able to use a part of your body and make that your weapon…

Takedown 2:

This one is where you jump up and try to take your opponent down in the guard it has 3 outcomes (A, B and C)……

A:

This is where you jump up and succed in taking your opponent down with you in the guard:

B:

This one is where you dont succed in getting your opponent in the guard, but he keeps standing there with you around him….

C:

This one is where you have to much speed in your takedown and you end with your opponent in the mount….

Takedown 3:

This one is where you let your self fall backwards with your opponent over your leg and your elbow hitting his Solar Plexus, when landing…..
This can also be used as a counter as a grab around the neck…

Note: Remember that if you imagine a triangle in front and behind your opponent (with the tips away from him). Then if you bring his head or arms to the tip of either of these triangle, then it will break his balance…..
This knowledge will make you able to better improvise, make new techniques and adapt to a attacker…..
